Gamay Noir (with withe juice).
Colour: Pretty ruby red with beautiful intensity.
Nose: Fruity and floral aromas. Small red fruits that are typical flavours brought by the Gamay grape, are very present, notably Morello cherry and some spicy notes.
Palate: a perfect and very nice balance in the mouth, between fruitiness and power, woodiness and spices, structure and elegance.
Serve ideally at a temperature of 13 to 15°C. (55-59°F.).
Will be the perfect companion to a plate of charcuterie, red and white meats, simple local dishes, daily cuisine and soft cheeses.
Drink young to fully benefit from its aromatic intensity.
The grapes for this “Terres de Gamay” blend were harvested from different selected terroirs of France, in Beaujolais and Comté Tolosan in the southwest. They were then vinified and blended together in order to obtain this very beautiful expression of the Mommessin style.
A touch of Syrah was added to the whole to enhance the expression fruity and balanced Gamay Noir.
Terroirs are very diverse and all are made of granite soils.
Grapes are vinified according to the Beaujolais method, with a semi-carbonic maceration. Aging in vats.
The winter was cold and dry with a number of frosts, which, in recent years, are rare phenomena in the South.
The humid spring slowed down the start of the growth cycle in the vineyard.
The record heat in May caused a sudden boost and the vines went from a late budburst to flowering 8 to 10 days ahead of schedule. An assessment of the situation at the time of fruit set confirmed a good harvest with volumes 30% higher than in 2021. June was characterised by stormy spells with heavy rainfall, which was beneficial to the grapes' development. The hot summer, with periods of scorching heat, made the vines on the slopes and those with no irrigation thirsty.
This typically early vintage produces colourful wines with a vast array of aromas and good concentration.
